My Life

I grew up in a small town outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I've always loved English and literature, especially reading and writing (I wrote my first play in the fifth grade). Now, I use that passion to write the stories I always wanted to read, and teach students the magic that is literature. I'm a huge Shakespeare buff (my tote bag has Hamlet on it), and my goal is to teach his plays in a way that's relatable, modern, and breaks the mold of how Shakespeare should be taught. I am currently piloting a new Shakespeare Studies course in my school, working to bring Shakespeare into a modernized classroom context. For more information on this, please visit my other website, dedicated to my work with Shakespeare's texts.

Keeping in the Shakespeare energy, I have a beautiful cat, Ophelia (named after Hamlet, obviously). She loves going on walks around town, particularly on campus where she can get fresh air and new experiences.
